The Directors of the Simon Tennis School recognize that the Red Deer Tennis program operates within the context of Tennis Canada and Tennis Alberta. Tennis Canada focuses on three components in their mission: to lead the growth of tennis in Canada; to become a world-leading tennis nation; and the combination of teamwork, passion, integrity, innovation and excellence in tennis. Tennis Alberta, the governing body of tennis in Alberta, focuses on the scheduling and regulation of tournaments, the development and implementation of high performance programs, stimulating kids’ tennis, building tennis communities, supporting wheelchair tennis, supporting fitness programs for tennis, and developing coaches and officials.
The Simon Tennis School has one main component in its mission: to provide expert instruction in tennis at all levels of play, in singles and doubles, and to all ages of players. The benefits of such instruction are applied to an enjoyable life-long participation in tennis, and to competitive play within the community, province, and country. The Simon School has been organized with the idea that the development of tennis skills and the participation in the game have positive effects on the individual and the community. These benefits include developing confidence in physical skills, developing social skills, developing friendships through tennis, and stimulation of the overall health and safety of the persons participating in tennis.
The Simon Tennis School believes that a team approach to its mission is the most effective. It allows for the development of a passion for the game, the development of integrity in the way one plays the game, the development of new ways of meeting its instructional goals, and the development of excellence in those participating – the players, coaches, and leaders.
